Sindh Women Bar Association
Empowering women in the legal profession with knowledge, unity, and strength to lead the future of justice.
Message from the Chairperson

As the Chairperson of the Sindh Women Bar Association, the first women-led bar association in Asia, it is both an honour and a responsibility to lead a movement rooted in justice, dignity, and equal representation in the legal profession.
For decades, the contributions of women lawyers in Pakistan have remained unacknowledged or underestimated. SWBA was established to change that, not as a symbolic platform, but as a powerful legal institution committed to empowering women through structural support, professional development, and fearless advocacy.
At SWBA, we believe that women lawyers must not only be included, they must lead. We are building a future where women are not just participants in the justice system, but architects of its transformation.
Our priorities are clear:
- To champion gender equity in legal leadership and representation
- To provide capacity-building and mentorship for women at all stages of their legal careers
- To protect and advance the legal rights of women, children, and marginalized communities
- To promote a professional culture where integrity, not gender, defines merit
To our women colleagues:
You are not here to tick a box or meet a target. You are here because you belong by merit, by right, and by the strength of your purpose. You are not the future of this profession—you are its present force, its necessary voice, and its transformative power.
As Chairperson, I urge you: Own your place in the legal system. Step forward, not quietly. Speak, not cautiously. Shape the law, challenge its flaws, and lead with integrity. SWBA stands beside you — not as a support system alone, but as a platform for your leadership.
Together, we are not just advancing the role of women in law. We are rewriting the standard.
With purpose, courage, and an unshakable belief in your power,
Darakhshan Jahan
Chairperson, Sindh Women Bar Association
